Years ago when I played on a softball team, we would go to Whataburger after every practice. It wasn’t for the hamburgers, although they did have some amazing burgers. They had a special deal on fountain drinks – 64 ounces for $1.50. I’m not sure 64 ounces of Dr. Pepper was the healthiest option, but on a hot summer afternoon, I didn’t care. I was thirsty and a bucket of DP really hit the spot.
The Israelites had built up a much more severe thirst than an afternoon on the softball field. They had been traveling for days through the desert without water and were in desperate need. The passage (Exodus 17:7) teaches us about a much more desperate need. Join us this Sunday to find out about how to quench our thirst for a right relationship with God.
See you Sunday!
