The most lopsided victory in NFL history occurred on December 8, 1940, when the Chicago Bears defeated the Washington Redskins 73-0. In this incredible blowout:
- The game had to be finished using practice balls because the Bears had kicked all of the game balls into the stands on extra points.
- Washington had nine turnovers; Chicago had one.
- The Bears’ defense intercepted more passes (8) than the Washington offense completed (7).
- Chicago outgained Washington 519 yards to 231.
Washington quarterback Sammy Baugh was asked by a reporter if an incomplete pass that would have scored a touchdown early in the game would have changed the outcome. He replied, “Sure, it would’ve been 73-7.” (espn.com)
That’s a lopsided victory, to be sure, but nothing compared to the victory described in Genesis 3:15. Join us this Sunday as we discover the greatest victory of all.
See you Sunday!
