I haven’t had the opportunity to go to one of my high school reunions. As far as I know, they haven’t had one in several years. I’m guessing that experience would be a mixed bag. There would be some good conversations catching up with what’s been going on in everyone’s life through the years and probably some reminiscing about the “good ol’ days.” The fact is, though, high school is a roller coaster for most people. Trying to sort through the lunchroom politics and pecking order while attempting to pass chemistry could be a challenge. Some “good ol’ days” weren’t all that good.
So it was for the nation of Israel. They longed for the good ol’ days . . . in slavery back in Egypt. Join us this week as we read where Moses reminds the people of Israel, and us, that what we have in God is far greater than what we are longing to reclaim (Exodus 16:3-4).
See you Sunday!
