Graded on the Curve
From time to time, my teachers would announce that they would be “grading on the curve.” There was a long statistical explanation for this, but basically it meant that our final grade would be determined by how the rest of the class performed during the semester. It was a great deal. In order to get a decent grade, I didn’t have to know everything, just one question more than 80% of the class.
The unfortunate truth is that many think righteousness is graded on the curve. We all know we aren’t perfect, but at least as we are better than that guy, we are okay. We can always find someone who, in our opinion, is worse than we are, so we should be in the clear.
Unfortunately, righteousness is not graded on the curve. That is a test we all fail. The good news is that, in Christ, we have real righteousness (Galatians 3:10-14). Join us this week as we discover how Jesus has broken our curse.
See you Sunday!
