NHBC Stepping Out is National Heights on mission in our community. You can participate as an individual, couple, family, or group, and participate in as many ministries as you would like. Ephesians 2:10 tells us ‘we are created to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do’! Our prayer is that when NHBC members are placed in positions of service throughout the community, people will see the face of Jesus, and God will be glorified. Join in –there’s something for everyone! Our community will be blessed, and you will as well, as we put into the action the love we talk about. What a joy to be able to participate together!
Opportunities to Serve:
1) Volunteer as a receptionist at Pregnancy Care Center either Monday mornings or Thursday afternoons. Call 877-0800 for more information.
2) Therapy department needs shoes for patients. From Donna Wiley, director, Therapy Services: Acute Care Therapy at Cox South stocks gently used, clean walking shoes for patients needing appropriate shoes to stand, walk or complete activities of daily living. Our supply is running low and we need all men’s and women’s sizes. Your running shoes that are still in good condition can be put to good use. No sandals, please.
Please bring shoes to the therapy department at Cox South (adjacent to the public elevators on the first floor), or call for pick up at 269-6177.
3) Check out the south bulletin board at NHBC for additional opportunities to serve. Items will change on a regular basis, so be sure to check back frequently to find ways God can use you to bless our community in tangible ways.
4) The NHBC Blessing Box is now up and running. The box is located near the Norton entrance to the church parking lot. Items included are non-perishable food items, warm hats, gloves and scarves, paper goods, a notebook for prayer requests, and Bibles, all free for the taking to our community. Please pray as God continues to touch others through this ministry.
UPDATE: The Blessing Box Ministry now has two boxes, one on the church property by the Norton entrance and one at the West Kearney McDonald’s.
