A quote, often attributed to Harry Truman, simply states, “If you want a friend in Washington, get a dog.” It sounds like something President Truman would say, and it expresses a sentiment that people in Washington, and pretty much everywhere else, seem to have: you can’t trust anyone.
Moses may have felt that way sometimes. Trying to lead the people of Israel through the wilderness was sometimes like herding cats. The minute Moses turned his back, someone was complaining about the manna, threatening to go back to Egypt, or building a golden calf.
